As I write this, we are nearing the end of the first week of the 2015 Festival of Chichester and it occurs to me that this is one of those events that sums up all that’s great about Chichester – and Sussex, and England and Great Britain too for that matter.
Throughout the country, armies of volunteers(mostly) have been working their socks off to organise and deliver many events such as this, and Chichester’s Festival is a fine example.
The months of planning, organising and no doubt a few sleepless nights are beginning to pay off now, as hundreds of people are experiencing and enjoying quality Music, Arts, Theatre, Talks, and – you’ll expect me to mention – a huge range of Guided Walks.
There are no less than 51 walks in and around the city during the 2015 Festival, and Chichester Tour Guides are delivering 20 of them – offering the opportunity to discover more about a range of subjects as diverse as: Romans; Sussex Day; the city’s Green Spaces; South Street’s, Commerce, Church and Crime; Markets,Trade & Commerce; West Street’s Architecture, – City Highlights on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings and, a little more dramatic perhaps, how the city coped with natiional and international conflicts and various dastardly deeds, misdemeanors and murder!

Chichester is, of course, a great city to visit all year round – with so much to enjoy and experience. But the summer months, and particularly Festival Time – offers the most concentrated way of enjoying the city and all it can offer. It’s a cliche I know, but there really is so much to enjoy during this full-on month (13 June—12 July 2015) that the only complaint I can think of is that there’s not enough time – in my life anyway, to enjoy it all!
Chichester Tour Guides are a group of seven fully qualified Blue Badge and Green (City) Badge Guides who love to share their passion of this lovely city and the surrounding area with visitors, and local residents too. We provide a weekly City Highlights Guided Walk every Sunday morning from 11.30am – meeting at the Cathedral Bell Tower in West Street PO19 1RP.
