Chichester has not produced many international athletes over the centuries,  but one of England’s newest Rugby Union stars was born in Chichester  His name is Billy Twelvetrees, and he scored a try on his first appearance representing England.

At his club, Leicester, he was nicknamed 36, based on his name as pronounced in the Irish accent of club captain Geordan Murphy, which sounded like twelve threes.

With a name like that, it’s not surprising that Twelvetrees senior, Billy’s father, makes his living as a tree surgeon!
